Ogof Ffynnon Ddu
I have done fairly little caving in the UK during the last year and I have been even worse with actually writing up anything about the trips that I did manage to do, so when I arrived in Gatwick back from work and Christine called to ask if I would like to come down to Wales for a bit of caving I was quite a happy man.
The fact that Clive Westlake was to lead us through OFD1 was especially appetising as I never did the through trip and only have done very limited caving in OFD.

Chris, Rich and I stayed in the Chelsea caving hut the night before and met Clive the next morning at the South Wales hut. When Clive and Christine donned their wetsuits I got a bit nervous as I only brought my dry caving gear and being soaking wet for five hours wasn’t exactly what I had in mind for my first day back in the UK. Luckily i got off quite lightly as the water levels were down a lot and with a bit of Spiderman tactics I managed to avoid most of the deep pools in the streamway.

What a nice cave!!! The streamway section is simply spectacular and I got a bloody good reminder of how much fun dry caving is. I seriously hope to do a bit more this year but since I moved to Bristol caves are now *almost* just around the corner so there is little excuse.
Christine opted to leave the video camera behind this time and instead shot some pictures which are pretty cool and can be found here. Also if any of you are interested in giving try caving a go Christine is a fully certified cave leader now and will certainly make sure your first time underground is a brilliant one.
